NGOs have a history dating back to early 1900 and till date India is estimated to have 1-2 millions of NGOs and gradually as the ways of relying on Government is decreasing especially in the underdeveloped and developing nations. With the standard of living improving and people gaining more and more exposure and companies making good money, the system of working for the underprivileged ones is coming much easily and automatically as an effort to help the needy in their means. Earlier the problems were way different with that compared to the present. While internationally the issues included basically fighting for the fundamental rights majorly fighting for the women suffrage and to abduct slavery etc.
With the merge of United Nations Organization and NGOs towards 1945, there was a new revolution where these communities were independent and were non Government but functioned way effectively. NGOs today can pick up on any issue starting from working on naturally hit calamities to serving healthy food to the malnutrition population, especially in the underdeveloped countries. They also take care of Human Rights to fighting for a single Individual that makes a wonderful difference as in our country a case to be fought may take years and Police also understands the power of money the Political pressure is the ultimate jury, but when it comes to NGOs, they fear no one as they are independent bodies and when they unite with media, the sensation is too hot to handle and many issues are solved even before hitting the court and the accused are punished accordingly. NGOs thus are more for serving the people and fighting for their rights too with the enormous power they withhold. I strongly think the NGOs should all get actively involved in striking a difference because check out the number of NGOs we have, if millions of NGOs function with integrity and honesty, we can actually change the whole face of crime, economic conditions, social conditions etc. and rather than complaining about the system, we really can make a difference because we are fighting for a good cause and our efforts are towards development. This can result to the eradication of poverty, child labor, women abuse etc. and there can be development in terms of education, microfinance to make people self sufficient, living standards, health etc. I am really glad to see the gradual transformation NGOs are undergoing and becoming so versatile, if their dedication in maintained, then the day to see our Nation as a Developed one from a Developing nation is not far away.
